Premium belts have the highest power density of any V-belt, and stretch dramatically less than standard cross sections. That’s why they’re ideal for use on problem drives requiring high-impact strength and load-carrying power.
Premium Banded Belts
Replaces several belts with the strength of a single belt. Banded belts feature a multiple layer tie band that provides excellent lateral rigidity to prevent belts from turning over or from coming off of the drive.
Premium Single Belts
For applications when banded belts are not an option. Single belts can be used with deep groove sheaves and drives with limited room for “take up”. They can also be an “A” section solution for multi-groove A/B sheaves.
TB Wood’s Narrow (Ultra-V) sheaves include three cross sections: 3v, 5v and 8v and are constructed of fine grain, high tensile cast iron and have been carefully engineered to assure maximum performance over a long life span. For applications with special requirements, Wood’s sheaves are also available on a made-to-order basis in either cast or ductile iron, in in Sure-Grip® or bored-to-suit construction.
TB Wood’s Classical (also known as Conventional) V-belts include five cross sections: A, B, C, D, and E. These sections are a continuing development of the original V-belts of the 1930’s. A, B, C, and D belts are available in wrapped or cog construction and all are static conducting, and oil and heat resistant.
Note: E section V-belts are available for replacement on existing drives, but are not recommended for new drive designs.
TB Wood’s light-duty sheaves are available in two types, both with one and two grooves. "AK" sheaves are made to accommodate A (4L) belts; "BK" sheaves are made for A (4L) or B (5L) belts. The two lines of sheaves have identical pitch diameters when using A or 4L belts. Wood’s light-duty sheaves can be equipped with Wood’s "QT" Sure-Grip QD-type bushings, quick-detachable tapered bushings that are split through flange and tapered surface to provide a true clamp that is comparable to a shrink fit.
The Wood’s Poly-V sheaves include four cross sections: J, K, L, and M. The J section sheaves are stocked in a Sure-Grip QD Style and also bored-to-size for sheaves under 2”. The K, L, and M sections are available on a made-to-order basis in either cast or ductile iron and in Sure-Grip or bored-to-size design.
SYNCRONIZE
The QT PowerChain II belt drive system from TB Wood’s consists of a synchronous belt, sprockets, bushings and idlers that are all designed to work together to deliver the best value in power transmission – whether the application is low-speed or high-speed. When compared with standard roller chain, this powerful belt drive system provides important performance advantages and significantly reduces overall costs. The new sizes of belts and sprockets along with increased power ratings (up to 40% higher than its predecessor) allow QT PowerChain II drive systems to be designed in widths narrower and more compact than ever before.
TB Wood’s Synchronous Plus synchronous drives offer the added flexibility of a dual sprocket design that features both metric and standard-tapped holes coupled with a high capacity Synchronous Plus belt. As a result, the Synchronous Plus drive offers a significantly higher horsepower rating at the standard industry price.
Delivers 50% more HP capacity than standard construction high torque drives
Allows for use of smaller, lighter weight sprockets
Provides a more economical solution than standard high torque
Tensile Members Helically wound, "EXTRA STRONG" fiberglass cords are chemically treated and designed to assure superior length stability, maximum flexibility, and high tensile strength for shock loads.
Teeth and Backing Teeth are molded integrally with the backing that protects the tensile members. Both are manufactured from premium quality, synthetic, neoprene rubber that provides exceptional resistance to heat, oil, ozone, and flex fatigue. Precise tooth formation and accurate spacing permit smooth, uniform transmission of power with resistance to tooth jump and shear.
Wear Jacket The self-lubricating, nylon cover fabric construction is the key to the belt’s outstanding horsepower and torque rating. It not only assures maximum drive efficiency but provides exceptional resistance to tooth wear and shear from friction.
Dual Drill Many sprocket sizes are drilled for both inch and metric hardware.
TB Wood’s timing belt drives are a highly efficient job-proved medium for mechanical power transmission. These drives combine the advantages of chain and gear drives with the advantages of belted drives, without the limitations usually associated with these drives. Timing belt drives deliver savings in weight, space and construction without a sacrifice in efficiency, and they are adaptable to almost any kind of power transmission drive.
TB Wood’s QT Power Chain® synchronous belt drives are constructed with materials of the highest quality and strength. Extensive development performed by research & development has resulted in the homogeneous integration of all components, the cohesive bond of which imparts superior torque capacity giving QT Power Chain® drives the ability to exceed the performance of existing belt drives and compete with chain and other mechanical systems.

TB Wood’s offers a wide range of companion sheaves for motion control variable speed drives that are made to accommodate Sure-Grip® Bushings for ease of installation. A wide range of companion pulleys are also available.
TB Wood’s offers a complete range of motor bases perfect for any application. Choose from the MBA, with heavy-duty cast iron construction, the MC, made from heavy-duty welded steel, the Model ’A’ Tilting, for fractional horsepower motors, or the QS motor base, which enables quick and easy motor repositioning.
TB Wood’s NLS® centrifugal clutch reduces motor acceleration time and power requirements in a variety of power transmission applications. Offering a low initial starting torque, the NLS clutch provides soft starts and reduced starting current. Because motors achieve running speed almost immediately, motor current and motor heating are reduced.

Disc-O-Torque® fluid actuated multiple disc clutches have provided thoroughly proven, dependable hydraulic and pneumatic clutches for over 25 years. All clutches are self-contained and require no linkages, levers or adjusting devices. The D5(HTH), D3(STH) and D2(STD) models require no rotating unions, glands, or rifle drilling. Wave springs provide fast, positive disc separation for minimum idling resistance, and they provide uniform torque capacity during their predictable long life.
TB Wood’s easily installed Roto-Cam® mechanical clutch completely eliminates external, separately mounted fulcrums, yokes, levers or trunnions and permits a simple, clean compact control system for direct or remote -- manual or powered -- actuation. Roto-Cam provides smooth easy engagement typical of a spring loaded clutch plus a positive, over-center "lock-in". The clutch can be "inched" or "Jogged" for complete operator control.
The Hydrostatic Speed Variator is an integrated hydrostatic transmission consisting of a variable displacement radial piston pump driving a fixed displacement radial piston motor. The pump-motor system is completely self-contained within one case providing light weight and ease of maintenance and serviceability.
